About the event

The Opening Reception for the Solstice Poster Art Contest will be next Tuesday January 23, 5-8 PM at Legacy Art Santa Barbara, 1230 State Street. The Solstice artwork will be on display at Legacy Art during the week from Tuesday, the 23rd until the 30th. Hours TBA. Final chance to vote on entries will be at the closing reception Tuesday, January 30. There will be an opportunity to vote online after the closing reception.

COLLECTION OF ARTWORK:  The collection of artwork for the Poster and T-shirt Art Contest will take place at the Solstice Office Monday, January 22, 924 Anacapa Street, Suite 3-h (third floor) from 10:00 am to 5:00 PM.  Artwork must be ready to hang, with the title of the artwork, your name, address, email and phone number on the back, and if you wish to offer it for sale and at what price. There is an entry fee of $15 per artwork, $10 for children.

GUIDELINES: Solstice will provide the wording for the poster, so you are free to express your vision for the poster and t-shirt. You can design it as you like, keeping in mind the theme. As a guideline, remember the final poster formats will be 18 x 24 "portrait" 24 x 18 "landscape". Your artwork does not have to be that size, it's simply a proportional guide. Think about posters that you love as artwork on your walls. Check out some of the past poster designs online.

Digital artists must provide ready-to-hang artwork. Consider what it might look like on a t-shirt, for men and women and children, and of course, keep all the wonder, whimsy and fun of Solstice

For more information email Penny at

or call the office at 805-965-3396. The winner’s image appears on posters, t-shirts, and there is a $500 honorarium for the winning artist.
